What is performance anxiety?
Performance anxiety is intense worry or fear about underperforming during sex, often leading to physical symptoms like difficulty getting or maintaining an erection, premature or delayed ejaculation, or low arousal that reinforce the anxiety. It's treatable with the right combination of sex therapy and mental health support.

What causes performance anxiety?
In the body
- Past negative or embarrassing sexual experiences
- Stress, depression, low self-esteem or general anxiety
- Relationship concerns or fear of judgment from partner

How is this different from ED treatment?
ED can have many causes; performance anxiety is one of them. We address both the psychological pattern and any physical contributors together.
How do I know it's anxiety and not a physical problem?
A strong clue: if morning erections and solo function are normal but difficulty appears with a partner, anxiety is the likely driver. Your doctor confirms this with a careful history, and tests only if needed.
Newly married and it's not working, is something wrong with me?
No. This is one of the most common situations we see, wedding stress, exhaustion, expectations and inexperience all collide. It settles quickly with calm guidance, and seeking help early prevents the anxiety loop from forming.
Is this common, or is it just me?
It's one of the most common concerns walking into every Allo clinic. You'll be far from the first person your doctor has helped with this.
How soon will I see improvement?
Honestly: it depends on the cause, which is exactly why we diagnose first. Most patients notice change within a few weeks of the right treatment, and your doctor will give you a realistic timeline at the first visit.
