What causes pain during sex?
In the body
- Physical factors like previous painful experiences, childbirth trauma, infections, or medical conditions
- Psychological factors like fear of pain, negative sexual experiences, relationship issues, or anxiety
- Cultural & Religious factors like restrictive beliefs about sex, shame, or guilt associated with sexuality
Often it's a mix of both, and both sides are treatable. The right tests tell us which it is, so nothing is guesswork.
